About Us

The program provides employment and career counseling services to adult and dislocated worker customers ages 18 and older. Individuals who may be eligible for services include those who have experienced layoff or need assistance securing employment, low income, Veterans, or those who are justice-involved.

In 2017, a new program for young adults with ages that range from 16-24 was launched. The NCWorks NextGen Program is a newly featured program at NCWorks Career Center in Guilford County, replacing the INSPIRE Young Adult Workforce Preparation Program.

Young adults who would like to attend college, earn a credential, or just want a rewarding career and a better life for themselves, can participate in the program. Although eligibility and availability for NextGen must be determined, the NCWorks Career Center has proven that when it comes to providing workforce development assistance, no matter what a person’s background looks like, help is available in one or more departments within the Center.

Services We Provide

• Paid Work Experience and Job Leads - EDSI will pay wages directly to the new hire for them to gain valuable hands-on experience with an employer
• On-the-Job Training
• Life Skills and Work Readiness Classes
• Paid Day Care
• Free GED and Career Readiness Certification
• Courses to Careers – For recent college graduates
• Certifications (Medical, Technical, etc.)
• Jobs in high-demand industries
• Support in dealing with life struggles

Populations served are youth who are:

• Between 16 and 24 years old
• Single parents
• Low income
• High school graduates
• High school dropouts
• College students
• Those with criminal backgrounds
• Those who need help determining their career paths
